I was wondering if it would be ok if I made these bags with your pattern and sold the end Product at a craft fair? I will include a tag stating the pattern is yours

Thank you for sharing your pattern with everyone I am really looking forward to making these myself. I like the idea of getting some of the produce off of my counters.

Rebecca, this was exactly my problem; too much stuff on the counters and not enough room to cook. This was my solution. I'd love to hear how they work for you.

Hi Michelle, I used (4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight acrylic yarn. Thank you for asking (I just added this info to the post).

THX!👍🏻 and what is crab stitch?
Catrina

Crab stitch is a backwards single crochet. Heart Hook Home has an awesome video on YouTube for the crab stitch.

Can you use cotton for this project?

Absolutely. Depending on the weight/thickness, it may change the finished size but I have seen other market bags made with cotton. Please let me know how it comes out.

I am a self taught by way of YouTube (lol) and really depend on videos for patterns. This is my first time actually reading and following a pattern correctly!!! I completed this project within a few hours with ease, thanks for such a well worded and easy to follow pattern. I really love these bags and will be making more, I made the large one and I absolutely love it!!! Thanks again

Your welcome and thank you!! Also I meant to ask, what size hook did you use?
Miya
6/19/2017 06:39:45 pm
I used 3.5mm(E) and my bag seemed to be a little small, I followed the pattern for large. Could it be that my tension was too tight? Can I use a larger size hook next time? (Still a newbie sorry for all of the questions)
Catrina
6/19/2017 06:56:20 pm
I used an E, also. Your tension could be a bit tight but so is mine. You could definitely use a larger hook but the bag will stretch from the weight of the produce (or whatever you put in it).

Thank you for solving my problem that you didn't even know I had! I've been looking for one of those three-tier mesh hangers for this same purpose. Well, no more! This is perfect and I never thought of hanging them like you did.

Theresa, so funny that you say that, I was also looking for the three-tier mesh thingy when I decided to make these. I even found one but was trying to figure out where I would hang it and still be able to reach because I am short. Then I thought, I have yarn, lol.

I love these totes...I have made 4 sets so far, 3 of cotton and 1 with twine. The next set will be out of hemp. The twine are in my kitchen with onions in the large bag, lemons and limes in the medium and garlic in the small. The others were given away as gifts. Thank you for this great pattern.

Thank you! I think if you used a thinner yarn and smaller hook the would probably come out a little smaller, but still functional.

I have saved this pattern on Ravelry and downloaded it. Hope to start it soon. Would want to crochet it in yarn and cotton so that I have storage as you do but also for shopping produce bags, almost in crochet cotton {the very thin one}.

Hi Louise, you’re very welcome! I think you could use any yarn you choose. I prefer tighter chains/stitches so I’d probably use a hook one size smaller than recommended. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for this pattern. Catrina! My mother-in-law is living in a tiny space and I'm so excited to find this to make for her. I previously worked up a mandala throw for a friend and was so frustrated by the pattern because it wasn't very seamless. I could always see where each row ended. This pattern is a blessing and I will be using this technique in the future. I'm beyond grateful. ❤

I am a bit confused about ending Row 15. When I get to the next time last ch sp do I just do a sc and then sc into top of HD of previous round? Or do you do it differently?

Cute. I just made the medium one using cotton worsted weight yarn - what I use to make dish rags. It holds a 3 lb bag of onions. Now I need a hook. Thanks for the pattern.

LOVED your pattern! I have been searching for a produce bag pattern to store my food in the kitchen just as you described. I made the medium bag over a few hours in the evening. Its now loaded with 4 pounds of onions and hanging up and clearing up some counter space. I will be making more for sure. Thank you so much!

I love this pattern. However, I am a fairly new crocheter and don't understand how I start Row 1 with a Ch2 and do I then do a magic ring. If so, how is that accomplished? Your advice is looked forward to.

Love the pattern! You are extremely clear in the directions and for a newbie crocheter that is a definite plus!! One question - bigger hook (I crochet too tight) how much yarn? Will one skein be enough?

I apologize for just now seeing your comment. I’m a tight crocheter, also. I wouldn’t use a larger hook. The bags will look small but the weight of the contents will stretch the bags.
